My Story
Education & Experience
Despite my early aptitude for science, I chose to pursue my undergraduate degree in English Literature. I was fascinated by the power of the written word.
As I grew professionally, I became a first generation college graduate and matriculated into medical school. I eventually matched into neurosurgery, my top choice residency training program. I loved taking care of patients with neurological problems and was grateful for the privilege of being there for patients and their families during such difficult times.
Scientific Background
I spent a year as a medical research scholar at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where I designed and implemented a translational research project investigating the potential efficacy of a novel therapy for the treatment of a rare brain tumor. These efforts culminated in the publication of original research in the academic journal Neuro-oncology (see Portfolio).
Innovation & Future Directions
This immersive preclinical experience sparked my entrepreneurial spirit and ultimately let to my decision to pursue my MBA (with a focus in Tech). My end goal is to become a physician innovator in the medical device sector.
During this exciting journey, I discovered the field of Ophthalmology, which I quickly recognized as the perfect medical specialty for my career goals. Blending intricate anatomy, elegant microsurgery, and a culture of innovation and progress, I am thrilled by the prospect of training to become a future eye surgeon.
